Taurean J. Webb

Activist and Educator

Taurean J. Webb teaches Black Studies and Religion at DePaul University’s School for New Learning. Webb’s research examines ‘Blackness,’ ‘Palestinian-ness’ and how both racial formations are mediated, in the US and Palestine region, through the lenses of religion and sovereignty. Formerly serving as Scholar-in-Residence at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference—an African American, faith-based justice NGO—Webb managed the organization’s Palestine portfolio and produced a series of writings geared towards mobilizing Black communities in the Palestine justice movement. In addition to his research, teaching and training work, Webb is a member of the activist network, Black4Palestine. He lives in Chicago (IL) with his wife, Tiauna, and daughter, Haniah Rose’lyn.
